Brain injuries suffered during birth can result in catastrophic consequences. Often this is the result of doctors failing to monitor the mother and child. If Pitocin is used during the delivery process, there is a heightened requirement for closer monitoring both the fetus and the mother. Recently, an Illinois hospital settled a birth brain injury case for 6.5 Million dollars because of the injury suffered by a boy at birth where the doctor failed to monitor the use of Pitocin.
